Mt Washington Freestyle Club (MWFC) is offering the following programs this season. All are designed to create "All Mountain" skiers with emphasis on Park, Rails, Big Air and Moguls. It's basically a bunch of skiers that rip like no others!
Club Volunteer Commitment
This Club like most Clubs cannot run without many parents volunteering their time and energy with all aspects of the Club organization and site maintenance. Our Club Program fees can only continue as one of the lowest at Mt Washington with this support from our parents. This Club is as good as you make it. The more involvement we have from parents the stronger the club will get.
There are many opportunities to volunteer both on snow and off. We ask for a minimum of one hour each weekend assisting with site maintenance. Further information will be available at registration.
We request a post-dated cheque from each Club Family for $100 dated for the last Club day in March. This is a returnable cheque; the cheque will not be cashed if the Volunteer Commitment is completed.

The Head Coach will offer a four-day Christmas Camp December 20 - 23, 2011. To start the season off on the right foot, a jump-start camp will be held in which we will spend four days working the summer rust off. The camp will break into four skills sets, changing each day,
Day 1- Basic Mogul and air skills: getting back into the physicality of flying through the bumps and going big. We will build a training site to get everyone back into the swing of moguls and jumping practice in a safe, user-friendly environment. Video analysis / and mogul film viewed.
Day 2- Turns- Basic carving skills/ Mogul turn: After the rust is off we will get right back into technical training. Getting the athletes turns up to par, speed control, balance, style. Video analysis / Skiing film viewed
Day 3- Air: The fun part, after a summer on land, time to fly again. We will slowly work back up to our hi-level tricks on two jumps built at our air site. Getting our bodies used to the impact of landing these tricks, it is key to start early in the season, and small, getting used to jumping balance again to avoid injury throughout the season. Video analysis / air film viewed
Day 4- Big Mountain: awareness and backcountry education, including beacon use, orienteering, and avalanche safety. We will explore the terrain of the mountain while snow levels are safe and teach safe practices for skiing in the backcountry. Beacon’s, shovels, probes, snow pack testing, avalanche film viewed
CFSA athlete membership is mandatory to participate in the Camp. Space is limited.
Please advise the Club Head Coach by December 10th via Email with athletes name, age and skiing ability.
Cost is $200 per athlete for Club members. For non-Club members $250 provided they meet Freestyle program abilities.
Registration forms and payment will be accepted December 20, 8:30am on the Marmot level of the lodge.
No Spring Camp will be offered this year.
The School Districts on the south and north Island have set their Spring Breaks for different dates making it difficult to arrange a camp to benefit all athletes.
